Tadabbur ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").
02 Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address (used for account identification and communication)
- Display name (optional, for personalization)
- Password (stored securely using bcrypt hashing — we never see your plain-text password)
Learning Data
- Learning progress, word completion status, and mastery levels
- Daily streak information and daily goal settings
- Study session data and spaced-repetition review history
- Per-surah progress (which surahs you have studied and words learned within each)
Technical Data
- Device type and operating system
- HTTP-only session cookies for authentication
- IP address and user agent, logged for security and abuse prevention
03 How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Sync your learning progress across devices
- Authenticate your sessions and secure your account
- Communicate with you about your account or the Service
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
04 Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database with appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Password hashing using bcrypt
- HTTP-only session cookies for authentication
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
Arabic word pronunciation uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine (Apple Speech / Android TTS). No audio data is transmitted to our servers.
05 Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information with:
- Internal notifications: Limited event metadata (e.g., "new signup", "lesson started") may be posted to a private internal channel for operational awareness. No personal data beyond a display name is included
- Service providers: Who assist in operating our Service (e.g., hosting, database infrastructure), subject to confidentiality agreements
- Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and the safety of others
06 Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and review your personal data
- Update or correct your account information
- Delete your account and associated data — you can do this from within the App under Profile → Account Settings, or by contacting us at support@tadabbur.xyz
- Opt out of non-essential communications
07 Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we will remove your personal data from our servers within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.
08 Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information. 09 Third-Party Services
The Service uses the following third-party infrastructure, each subject to their own privacy policies:
- Expo: Over-the-air app updates and build infrastructure
- Google Fonts: Inter and Reem Kufi font delivery for the web landing page

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
